Michelle Mallett:
OCA Teacher is awarded TCSA Teacher of the Year.

Rarely, one encounters a teacher such as Michelle Mallett. Although Mrs. Mallett is young in years, she is a true patriarch of Oklahoma Christian Academy and she has intertwined herself in the OCA community from the very beginning.

Prior to coming to OCA, Mrs. Mallett worked as a Research Technician at the University of Oklahoma. This experience has proven valuable in the classroom. In the past 18 years, she has taught various science classes in the middle school and high school and recognizes that each student has a difference learning style and works with them to discover that unique style.

Mrs. Mallett’s extra-curricular duties have included National Honor Society Sponsor, Abilene Academic Meet Sponsor, Varsity Cheer Coach, Science Fair Sponsor and Class Sponsor. Mrs. Mallett takes each group she sponsors to the next level by encouraging community service. She has helped raise over $80,000 for cancer research as she sponsored Relay For Life for 4 years.

Mrs. Mallett is the true epitome of commitment. First and foremost, she exemplifies Christ in her daily walk. This is carried into her classroom. Mrs. Mallett is an extraordinary person filled with a spirit of love for teaching that is recognized by students, parents, co-workers, and administration. She provides the scientific background that readily enables students to be successful with required college science classes or the scientific foundation to enter higher level science programs. She is forever a “student” – thus, continually growing as a teacher.

The executive committee of the Texas Christian School's Association voted in February to name Michelle Mallett as the recipient of this year's teacher of the year award. Jacob Stockton - Class of 2007:
Student examines wind energy and high-rise design.

'As a child, Jacob Stockton loved taking things apart.
