SOAR

Students Obtaining Academic Readiness (SOAR)

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31

As God has made us all unique and perfect in His image, SOAR will help assist students and families as they seek God’s perfect plan for each of them within Kingdom Education. The SOAR Program is designed to aid students in maintaining or reaching Oklahoma Christian Academy’s standard of academic excellence by providing academic support outside of the traditional classroom.

The SOAR Program provides a learning environment conducive to the needs of each student participating in the program. The SOAR Program Coordinator, teachers, tutors, and peer mentors will provide services determined for each student. To help students reach their full potential, the SOAR Program Coordinator will work with teachers to provide accommodations, mentoring, and guidance on a daily basis. The SOAR Program Coordinator will meet with parents a minimum of twice a year to create and maintain a SOAR Plan that fits the academic and social needs of the student. The coordinator will also communicate with parents on a regular basis to keep them updated on their student’s progress. The SOAR classroom is also available for qualifying SOAR students to have a quiet working environment to complete tests without time constraints or with alternative testing accommodations.

Elementary School Program
  • Level 1: Testing accommodation only, $50/month (Paid in full: $475).
    Level 1 is for the student who does not need tutoring, but would benefit from a quiet, distraction-free setting for testing. With appropriate screening and documentation, students will be allowed additional time or other accommodations to complete tests. Administrative approval and documentation is required for this level of SOAR services.
  • Level 2: Pull-out Tutoring, $150/month (Paid in full: $1450).
    For elementary students, Level 2 tutoring will occur solely on a “pull-out” basis during a specified time agreed upon by the teacher, administrator, and SOAR Coordinator. The student may receive pull-out tutoring 1-3 times a week through individual or small group 30-minute sessions. At Level 2, the student may also take tests in the SOAR classroom as needed.
  • Level 3: Can be added on a case by case basis.
Secondary School Program
  • Level 1: Testing accommodation only, $50/ month (Paid in full: $475).
    Level 1 is for the student who does not need tutoring, but would benefit from a quiet, distraction-free setting for testing. With appropriate screening and documentation, students will be allowed additional time or other accommodations to complete tests. Administrative approval and documentation is required for this level of SOAR services.
  • Level 2: Pull-out Tutoring, $100/month (Paid in full: $950).
    Level 2 is for the student who only needs help with one subject area for limited amounts of time. At this level, the student will be pulled out of their regular class schedule for tutoring at a specified time agreed upon by the teacher, administrator, and SOAR Coordinator. Students at this level will also be allowed to test in the SOAR classroom for the specified subject area (with administrative approval and documentation).
  • Level 3: Full-time, 5 days per week during a specified class period, $200/month (Paid in full: $1950).
    At this level, a personalized learning and support plan will be implemented. The allotted class period will be used for one-on-one or small group tutoring in identified subject areas, as well as supervised study and homework completion time. This level is for the student who not only needs help in specific subject areas, but would also benefit from personal organization and accountability. This level allows for testing in the SOAR classroom for any subject area with administrative approval and documentation.

Billing: Payment for the SOAR Program may paid to Oklahoma Christian Academy on a monthly basis or at a discounted rate for payment in full. Financial Aid is available upon approval. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Ellis by e-mail or at 405.844.6478.
